Sick Day!
I stayed home sick today. It is rare that I do this – normally I will stagger into work no matter how I feel, but there are no less than 3 pregnant attorneys on my hall and I do not want to get any of them sick. I’m home enjoying a Gilmore Girls marathon, drinking peppermint tea and dreading the hour when I have to pick up the children. I’m not even logged in and working. Decadence.

Afloat!
It’s been one of those weeks, oh dear Lord has it. This is the first week sans nanny – we were unable to locate a suitable replacement, so we’re cobbling together something workable for the last two months of this school year, which this week involved me going to pick up the oldest child at 2:45 and then bringing him back to work with me for a couple of hours. Unfortunately I have a ton of deadlines this week (five answers, two hearings, one pretrial conference and one dispositive motion all this week, plus prepping for mediation on Monday), so this wasn’t the best time for taking an hour break in the…

The weekend was a gift. Saturday – a morning hike down a wide gravel path through woods to a small bayside park. It is chilly. We walk over a boardwalk to the little beach. The sand is white, and the boys shift it into piles here and there while the baby snoozes in an Ergo on his father’s back, while I walk to the end of the pier and linger over the bay for a bit. After the boys have had their fill of sand-piling, we head back to the car, then grab some fried chicken at Popeye’s drive through. Get Into the Groove
(You’re welcome for the earworm.) Liam had the novel experience this morning of being “the well-behaved one” for once, and I wanted to get the event down for posterity. As you may recall, the Professor does his professor-ing in a different city and state, and travels there each week to stay three days in a teeny apartment. You may also recall that he has not done this for over a year – we were blessed with a well-timed research sabbatical plus paternity leave, which gave us the precious gift of a consistent two-parent household during Craig’s first year of life.
