Catching Up n Stuff
Last time I did a substantive update, I had nearly completed the recap of my fortieth birthday trip. I had just had a truly glorious massage at the La Cantera spa. We immediately left the spa and headed to Bandera, home of the Medina River Company, where we had reserved two kayaks to take down the rushing, busy Medina. The original intent was to float the river with a cooler of beer and some tubes – but at this time, massive amounts of rain had made the river run fast, and tubing wasn’t safe. We needed to have paddles, the ability to control – so we each got a kayak,…

Bitchin’ in the Kitchen
I continue to cook most of our meals, though I’ve taken to writing them into our wall calendar rather than recording them here. But ya’ll, we have had some ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS stuff in the past few months – exhausting work schedule notwithstanding – and so this post is for all of you (one? two?) folks who like to get recipe ideas from me. Including my Future Meal Planning Self. Brisket TJ’s tends to have reasonably priced brisket, so when we go there, I get one and make it using this recipe. That night we generally have brisket sandwiches and some sort of starchy side (potatoes? mac and cheese?) plus frozen…

*Meals*
Quick interlude for meals, so I can keep the links together. I’m out of town Mon-Wed for depositions (been traveling a lot lately), back on Thursday and then gone again Fri-Mon for a Richmond wedding. Then the travel should die down. This of course makes meal planning a challenge. The Prof is not helpless and can handle it but his repertoire is limited (he reads this blog, he will not disagree), so I’ll prep some things ahead and choose meals that are Prof-proof. Saturday: Orzo with summer squash and pesto, roasted broccoli and carrots, corn on the cob Sunday: grilled tilapia, bok choy Monday: Sausage pasta bake Tuesday: Tacos with…

Mardi Gras, Easter, Tall Ships, and Bed Bath and Beyond
I have just fought with my computer for at least two hours to try to get my phone photos loaded on my Mac, and then up to this website. There were tears. In this age of modern conveniences, NOTHING IS EVER CONVENIENT. The lengths I go to, to keep my three or four loyal readers apprised of our doings . . . Anyhow. Having done all of that, I’ve just about lost my momentum, and so I’m just going to dump a lot of photos and narrate our way through – as the title suggests – the rest of Mardi Gras, Easter, seeing the Tall Ships for New Orleans’ 300th…

Saturday Morning Meal Planning
Hello dear ones – Thing Number One: Comments are “on” on all of my posts. And yet they show as “off.” I don’t really know how to fix this, so I’ll do what I normally do with this blog – which sadly must remain at the bottom of my list of priorities – and that is, wait til it fixes itself. Thing Number Two: Last night when I got home from work, the kids were tossing a football in the street with some neighborhood kids. Then I called them in for frozen pizza for dinner (we fancy), and all of the neighborhood kids came too. They sat on the picnic…
