Saturday Morning THANKSGIVING Meal Planning
Generally this time of year, we would be packing up to travel right now. We would be saddling up the old minivan and heading to wherever we’re going for the holiday, and then I would work remotely pretty much every day except Thursday (and even then a little, some years, because law firm). Oh happy day, this year we are hosting! So no traveling for us! This also means I get to be in charge of the menu. I love holiday cooking! I will stick to my “couple of fancy things, a couple of easy things, and a couple of out-sourced things” rule for holiday cooking. Luckily, the typical…

Time to Plan the Meals
Yup, its our Saturday Morning Meal Planning, edition 1,243,572. Give or take. This is one of those repetitive domestic tasks that I largely enjoy, but good golly. Imagine, waking up on a Saturday and not having to sit right down and plan meals (and start a load of laundry, empty the dishwasher, etc. etc.) Sometimes during the workweek the day gets to 5:30pm, I am racing home from work thinking about the fastest way to pull something together for everyone to eat quickly before baseball/homework/bed, and feel like this: As it turns out, they do want dinner every night, and breakfast every morning, and multiple meals/snacks in between. I live with hobbits, and so…

Sunday Morning Meal Planning
Meal planning’s happening today, since I had to bill a lot of yesterday morning (commenter Margaret gave me writing prompts re various things, including being a lawyer – I don’t often mention it for privacy/ethics concerns, but this is one area of being a firm lawyer that one must get used to, and that’s working on Saturday morning! I’ll try to think of more that I can write, while also staying within reasonable bounds, for a later Lawyerin’ post!) The hungry monkeys have eaten all of the food, and so To The Grocery Store We Go! I was not able to pre-cook the week’s meals last weekend, due to the…

Saturday Morning Meal Planning
Craig is like, whoa. As long as he is awake, there is no rest. The other day he was thrashing around in his high chair after finishing his meal (and flinging the bowl across the room), so I let him get down and run wild so that the rest of us had some hope of enjoying the remainder of our dinner. In three seconds, suddenly a baseball cleat landed in the middle of the dinner table. We sat blinking splashed spaghetti sauce out of our eyes and wondering where the hell that shoe came from, meanwhile Craig was already off and running to the next scene of chaos. A drive-by shoeing.…

Food
Craig was the Oneiest One Year Old that ever Oned today, and so all I’ve got left in me is a recipe post. Here’s what the RG fam is having this week: Saturday night, we had Buffalo Chicken Lettuce Wraps. I skipped the quinoa, mostly because I forgot to cook it. Still delish. Loved this one. Slow Cooker Huli Huli Chicken. This we had tonight. I made mashed sweet potatoes and steamed broccoli to go with. It calls for skin on, bone in chicken, but I had skinless, boneless thighs already so I used those . . . mistake. This managed both to be falling apart and also pretty dry. I should…
