Saturday – in Myrtle Beach, staying at the Embassy Suites, as an engagement “get away from the wedding planning” gift from friends. Read books. Sleep on the beach. Do some swimming. Take long walks. See Prairie Home Companion in cinema. Fall asleep c.11pm.
Sunday – more of the same. Finish Time Traveler’s Wife, my book club book. The Professor watches World Cup on tv. We eat our packed lunch on the balcony, watching the sea. Fantastic candlelit dinner at a cheesy Polynesian-themed restaurant. Asleep by 9.
Monday – early start – up at 5am. Watch the ocean tide from the balcony. It’s still dark. We head out at 5:40. Get to work at 10 or so, work for about 5 hours, and then head to doctor’s appointment. Get hopelessly lost and turned around driving around hospital campus, as usual. Am late, as usual. Am seen, hooray University Healthcare.
Tuesday – work. Pretty much the whole day – 8a-6p no lunch. 🙁 A bleak blip on the “good week” radar screen. Head home, the Professor has made a lovely fajita meal – minus tortillas, but still good.
Wednesday – training class in the city. Don’t have to be there until 9am. Get out at 12:15. Decide to head home and work in the garden, instead of driving an hour and a half away to job. See Pirates of the Carribbean with the Professor at 3:45 – felt like we were cutting class. Awesome (movie was – eh). Dinner = popcorn. Expression = smiley face.
Days worked – 3
Hours worked – 18
Hours slept – avge 9 per night
My tan – smokin’
My Irish (read “fair-skinned”) fiance – not burned and peeling
Week so far – very good
Bad news – it can only go downhill from here . . .
You are funny! Glad that the mini trip was relaxing. I am very jealous of this getaway! I could use one right about now. Alas, my bank account says, "NO WAY!!!" 🙂
Hooray for the weekend!
Amanda 🙂
Had to say Hello. Saw you were at UNC…I used to work there & live in Chapel Hill then moved to Cary and now in TX. I can\’t wait to read more in your blog and hear about your life in NC. I was there 12 years, moved last fall, don\’t miss it a bit..that\’s kind of sad since I spent 12 long years there but oh well.
Found your space from Because I\’m the Bride – amanda…love her site, she\’s a hoot!
