Lately, you’ve:
- been giggling at me when I get home. You seem so delighted to see me. I bounce you on my knee, and it’s like THE funniest thing. Or I shake you a bit, or pretend to eat your neck. High comedy.
- been popping off the boob to check out my face. Like – is she still there? Oh, good. BIIIGG SMILE. Then back to work. Dad saw it the other day, and thought it was pretty funny.
- really enjoyed snarfing down cereal. You like to stick your hands in it. So I sort of lay you down, and pin your hands with my elbows, and sort of pour the stuff down your throat. You think this is great.
- introduced a whole new repertoire of sounds. You are really trying out your voice. High pitches, low ones, squeaks, squeals – you test things out and check my reaction. Sometimes we have super serious conversations, and I wonder what you think you’re saying to me. I love chatting with you.
- started to be able to anticipate. Before, if you had a dirty diaper, say, it would be scream scream scream the house down until the diaper was removed. Now, you scream the house down until we start to head for the changing table, and then you “get” that I’m about to take care of the diaper issue, and you stop. Same with eating. Sounds like a simple thing, but it’s a real huge step in your development.
- been rolling over on your side to sleep. And shoving both fists in your mouth. Speaking of shoving in your mouth, you are also able to reach out and grab your octopus noisemaker thing that hangs from your carseat and (a) make it play the music, and (b) eat it. You also love to gnaw on cloth. Drool drool drool, gnaw gnaw gnaw, smile smile smile.
- Started sleeping 8-9 hours at a time. Unfortunately, I haven’t been timing it right, so I still get up at 3 or 4am. But. Progress.
- Gotten a little longer and leaner, a little less porky. But you’re still a pretty porky baby.
- Been a total delight. The joy of my life. And Dad’s. Not so much the dog’s, but whatever.
