Today was the first day that I awoke in my home, showered and got ready for work, woke the children, fed and dressed them, drove them to school, and then went to work. (And then left work to pick them up, brought them home, did the night routine, and went to bed myself.) Woo! Routine! Day one!
Work is, as you can imagine on day two, a bit slow. A nice easy start. I plan, of course, to be pretty vague about my job, but I will tell you that my secretary is a slice of heaven, my office small but gorgeous, and my coworkers pretty great. Problems will come, and bad days – so I will enjoy my happy place while I’m in it. Meanwhile, I am working pretty hard on setting up good systems, both at home and at work. I have an in-box, an out-box, a “hot” file and a “cold but still active” file. I ordered a cork board, set up some pictures, and am taking lots of tutorials on our computer systems, so they won’t give me fits later on when I’m too busy to deal. I’m also trying to think through the best way to handle mornings and nights – walking the dog and the boys all together, watering the lawn with a sprinkler that has to be moved into six different spots, fetching and sorting mail, making dinner, getting my morning shower without having a fully clothed Liam try to join me. It’s hectic, but a happy hectic.
Eventually, I will post pictures of our house. One of these nights after the boys are in bed I’ll put up with my slow computer’s super slow upload speed. *Oh yeah – the whole internet thing here was a trial. No internet providers would serve us. We had to practically sell our first born to finally get a grudging agreement to give us DSL. It was strange, and annoying, but the DSL stuff came last night, so The Professor installed it before he left for NOLA, and I’m very happy that he did! Netflix again, at last! And also blogs, and facebook, and email, and google . . .*
Yay for surviving day one of a normal routine 🙂 Can’t wait to see house pics.
