I’ve contemplated moving to a different platform several times, but never bothered because I don’t really care about having beautiful custom what-have-yous. But doing this little re-ordering of my space, which was prompted by spaces suddenly making photo uploading take about fifty million years, hence I no longer want to showcase my photos – anyway, this space reordering took about half an hour, because it kept not working. Then I realized that it took my last name from hotmail and splashed it up here, god knows how long ago, and I only just noticed, and I preferred not to share that. Then it wouldn’t let me hide my last name. Then I found out it splashed my name and profile picture up on Match dot com as a potential mate for some lonely heart out there – wildly inappropriate for a married pregnant lady, don’t you think?
So. I’m breaking up with spaces AND with hotmail. Now I just have to find a new home. Any recommendations?
I run my own – how about a private blog on a private server where you have total control? I also like gmail for free email.
That would be awesome, but as we have The Poverty we need to go with something free, and don\’t private thingies cost a yearly subscription?
NO DO NOT LEAVE>>>>PLEASE!!!~*:.♥.:*~ because you shared a smile :o) someone\’s day got brighter… ~*:.♥.:*~
I don\’t think there is any better email than gmail. I don\’t know about the different servers for the blog because I am so decidedly un-fancy that I just use blogger and think it\’s fine.
Livejournal has always been good to me, and the way I\’ve configured it, searches for my name never yield my blog (thank God, because I\’d never get or keep a job if they did). I\’m not certain about it\’s usefulness for sharing photos, I usually use a link to Photobucket for mine, but I think there\’s a better way to do it that I haven\’t bothered to learn. Anyway, it\’s free, and it\’s private, so it\’s one option!
Yes, with a case of The Poverty you may want to stick with free tools. Blogger.com is now Google-owned, and you can create photo albums with their stuff, too. As far as big companies go I\’d take Google over Microsoft any day. But if privacy is a concern, anyone company can flub up. Of course, your own domain name can be about 10 bucks a year and I can even provide you with web space for about a buck a month (special rate) if you so desire.
