Baby Fever

Is it possible for a woman with a baby to have baby fever?

A close girlfriend is having a baby and so deliciously, gorgeously pregnant.  I saw her the other night   She just looked so beautiful, and has handled it all so well.  Their plans for the nursery, their registry, their upcoming showers . . . I sighed with a dreamy look in my eyes and thought to myself how wonderful it was being pregnant, how much I loved it, how much I miss that feeling of ripeness and potential and excitement.

Excuse me, what?  My archives, which I am stubbornly ignoring, will testify to the fact that I felt none of these things during pregnancy.  I was just a miserable old cow.  A fat miserable old cow.  I suppose as they say – we wouldn’t have more than one if we couldn’t romanticize a little and forget a lot.

A lot a lot.

Anyhow.  Carry on with your day, and I’ll find some excuse during this move to unpack and reorganize Jack’s newborn onesies.  That should tide me over til it’s time to suffer through #2.
