June 3 – Small Joys

Next on my list of small things that bring me disproportionate joy:

13. The childhood phenomenon of “invented spelling,” described by AI with what I believe to be reasonable accuracy as a stage in a child’s spelling development where they use their knowledge of sounds and letters to create their own spellings of words, often based on how the word sounds. My sister, who is currently in possession of four small children, knows I love it and often sends me pics of their best work, including this beauty where I am featured. 🐜
