Categorizing Things is Overrated

Gratitude – Scotland Shopping

My happiness prompt today told me to list fifteen people for whom I am grateful, whether I know them or not. I will exclude family members, as they would fill the list twice over or more, and that’s not interesting! I actually started this a while ago and stewed way too long over it so now it’s free association time – I’m just gonna list whoever pops into my head.

  1. Lizzo
  2. My therapist Lindsey
  3. My personal trainer Danny
  4. The gal who writes the Half Baked Harvest recipe blog, which is where I get most of my meal ideas these days
  5. My crazy neighbor (see the fourth bullet point), whose front porch is a surrealist painting right now. He has nailed a red dress to the porch wall, he has an exposed bulb lamp that he leaves on all night surrounded by painstakingly stacked junk in a sort of altar, and most recently he put some items of food out on the street along with a sign that says “FREE food from the WINN DIXIE.” It is veering near 100 degrees Fahrenheit and included in this stack of free food is a jar of mayonnaise. Why am I grateful? Because his insanity livens up the place.
  6. Our church youth group leader, who keeps reaching out to our boys and dragging them to activities and they need that!
  7. My hair stylist, Tommy
  8. My colleague CH
  9. My colleague CC
  10. My colleague PD
  11. My boss
  12. Dax Shepard and Monica Padman, whose podcast I love!
  13. Gretchen Rubin and Liz Craft, ditto!
  14. Julia Louis Dreyfus, also has a good podcast and has made so many shows I love
  15. Uhhhh myself?

For our trip to Scotland which we are about to take, I’ve been planning my packing strategy. I plan to bring just a carry-on plus backpack, and will be gone almost three weeks, so I need to pack wisely. I have a pair of Ugg ankle boots, lots of leggings+skirts, t shirts and cardigans. One puffy coat, one rain jacket. Books loaded on the kindle app on my phone and computer. Socks and undergarments. It’s fun to think about.
