As of 5 pm tomorrow, this entire state is to shelter in place per order of the governor, not leaving home except for “essential services.” We shut down, yo.
This will not change our particular immediate circumstances much, since we’re already pretty much staying home except for groceries, but it’s going to absolutely jack up the economy here. So, that’s fun. I mean, I agree it’s the right move and I think Florida needed to do the same about a month ago. But recovery is worrying to contemplate. The unemployment fund will only go so far.
Meanwhile, life continues. We left the house yesterday (Saturday), and took a walk in our exceedingly green and pollen-ized City Park. The boys rode their scooters, and Jack fell at one point and bloodied his knee. I made baked “fried” fish and chips, which took much longer than I anticipated, and we ate it at around 8:30 pm. Late, but delicious.
Today we did living room church once more. I gave blood this morning, and the boys rotted their brains on screens most of the day. We did have a couple of hours in the afternoon without video games. Jack watched some art lessons on youtube and drew some Five Nights at Freddy’s characters. Liam got out his erector set and built some vehicles. I enjoyed making magnet shapes with Craig, and eventually we all ended up taking turns with the spirograph. Pandemic = getting out all these toys that have been in the closet for years.
Off we go, into week two. I hope you are all staying well!
