Domestic Bliss

October 2009 October 2010

In October of 2009, which was my fourth anniversary of blogging, I had just begun law school.  There was much complaining about my legal research and writing class.  We went to a festival in New Orleans – I remember this festival, I was newly pregnant with Liam and hadn’t yet announced it, so it’s not mentioned in the post.  I talk about Halloween on Octavia Street in New Orleans – if you can ever get there, you should definitely try.  I was a ghost, and Jack was a black spider (I made the costume out of black socks and black shirt and pants).   It was a good year – later that year the Professor’s family visited us for Thanksgiving, and we went to my parents’ for Christmas.

A year later, Liam was small and nevertheless alert – he’s so sharp.  I wrote about the five worst jobs I’ve ever had, and my future job (at my current firm!  Here I still am years later!)  My baby sister got engaged, and I wrote a note to her.  I was a pirate for Halloween, and I carried Liam as my parrot, and Jack was a pirate too except he wouldn’t wear any of his costume and the only clue to his piracy was him carrying a big plastic pirate cutlass thing.

Whenever I read about law school, my pulse quickens.  We were so poor!  Time was so scarce!  Our economic future was so uncertain!  It also feels so recent – I cannot believe that was 5-6 years ago.  Just a few more retrospective Octobers to go . . .
