We had Thanksgiving at your Dee Dee and Chip-Ip’s house. You played a lot with your cousin. You love Ella. When we got home, I put up the Christmas decorations in the house, which thrilled you to no end. You took the stuffed Patrick-star-Santa, and the stuffed Rudolph, and you had them talk to each other. I asked you your reindeer’s name, and you said it was Rudolph. I asked you why you knew his name was Rudolph, and you said because of his red nose. IT WAS A BREAKTHROUGH MOMENT.
This morning, the day after putting up the decorations, you got up and wandered out to the front room drinking your juice. Then you said to me, without prompting, “thank you for Christmas, Mama.” I stopped wrapping the gifts I was wrapping, and turned and gave you a huge hug. You are the sweetest, most empathetic little boy.
You were at the store with me when I bought you the Tangled doll you wanted. You noticed that I’d hidden it, so I told you Santa Claus came down to pick it up so he could wrap it and put it under the tree. Now you tell me, most mornings, that Santa Claus took Rapunzel so he could rack it. This you will not forget! That Santa Claus is racking your Punzel!
Finally, I wanted to note that you’re getting better at answering questions. We work with you a lot, and it’s helping I think – helping your brain make those connections that they need to make. I tried to film you talking about Chip Ip for his sixtieth birthday, but you had a hard time answering questions then – you got really hung up on birthday cake. Every answer was CAKE! BIRTHDAY CAKE! Not super useful, kid.
