OK, so the Santa presents things was, and will likely remain, a total non-issue. In practice, it was such a minor difference, that my husband’s and my argument seems nonsensical. At the heart of the argument, really, was the heart of parenting – the things you feel your parents did wrong are things you fervently want to get right, even though there is no “right” – right? But this little marital interlude may illustrate the flip-side of that coin – the things you feel your parents did right are the things you absolutely want to do for your own kids, especially those magical moments that made your year when you were wee.
