So first. I put on my suit today, for warmth, and to feel professional, and I do. BONUS
Two people ask me why I look so nice for a change, where I’m interviewing and if I’ll take them with me. DOWNER
I finally remember to buy a Wal Mart gift card before purchasing Wal Mart gas in order to get the 3c per gallon discount. BONUS
They apparently no longer do the 3c per gallon discount. DOWNER
My boss gives me career advice that makes me feel appreciated and motivated. BONUS
The advice includes him saying that he cannot do anything more for me here, and I will have to go elsewhere to get paid what I’m worth. DOWNER
And then my google reader shows me that my favorite fashionistas have put up some more posts! BONUS
Two of them are of She Who Shall Not Be Named who has the career I want. TWO. In a ROW. And they are COMPLIMENTARY. DOWNER
I watch the trailer for her new movie and it looks forgettable. BONUS
But she is super cute in it, and also I want her haircut and clothes. DOWNER
I remember my new mantra of being a grown-up about the career jealousy thing, even when I’m having a rough day / week / year at work. I watch the trailer three times, and it seems to desensitize me, and I begin to feel marginally happy for this lovely woman’s success. BONUS
A VP of our company walks past the offices of several men to poke his head in mine and asks me to “fetch” somebody for him, please. SEETHING
Aaaaaand, that’s where I’m chillin’ at this point. In seetheville, seething away at these jerks, wishing I had the brass to call a lawyer and invoke the new Ledbetter Fair Pay Act instead of just sitting in here seething seethily. It’s gotten to the point where men can’t do anything right anymore, I’m so sensitive. But seriously, would he ever ask a male manager to "fetch" someone? Manager schmanager – would he ask a male of any stripe? No. Do men get called "spitfires," or "a great boy?" Do they get (I’m not even kidding) pats on the head? Is this not demeaning?
The husband and I are calendarizing tonight. Maybe. We’ve said that for like a week now but we’re really going to do it tonight. Then we’ll plan some things and have some things to look forward to, and also there will be wine, and talks of the future, when this will all be a distant memory. Aaaaaah. BONUS
Somebody patted you on the head? Wow. Just wow. On the other hand I love this post for my introduction to the Fugs – what a fun site, full of sarcasm with a side of bitter…two of my favorite flavors!I just read through your previous post of planned parties…sounds like a busy year!!http://thoughtsat34.blogspot.com
