Jack, Jack, Jack!
It is the holiday season, and I am so delighted to buy presents for you, you cannot believe. It’s mad, how much fun it is selecting nice things for you. A hat, a boom box, a dinosaur push toy, some books, some clothes. On and on and on, I just love it. You won’t understand a thing on Christmas day, but I don’t care. I will!
You have reached for me these last couple of days. Mmmm, that is a delicious feeling, to see you light up in that bouncy chair as I approach, and then reach your arms up to me to be held. It is so sweet. You are also clapping. Every time you clap, we shout “Yaaaaay!!” and you smile and clap some more.
Yesterday I put you in the seat of a shopping cart for the first time, and you held on and sat straight up and watched the world. You looked so adult – no smiles, no frowns, no fussing or whimpering. A clenched jaw, open eyes, and wide open expression, little fists holding onto the front. You seem so grown up to me sometimes, and sometimes I love it and sometimes I dread the day that you are no longer my baby boy. I hope we are always close. I pray we are always close.
