You are so doggone sunny, my boy! You smile all the time – any time you see a face, and especially dad’s face or mine. You lean your whole body into it, crinkle up your eyes, and give us a huge openmouthed smile. It’s like crack for mommies. I gobble it up.
We started you on bananas about a week ago, and squash a few days after that. So now you get cereal with bananas in the morning, and cereal with squash at night. The purpose of this was to relieve the constipation, and it seems to be working . . . a little too well. Ahh, they told me before I became a parent that my life would soon become all about poop, and I didn’t believe them.
You are really, really into faces right now. You grab, squeeze, pinch, manhandle any face that is foolish enough to come within your grasp. You also eat faces. Zombie baby. It is very interesting to be smiling at you, and you smiling back, and all of a sudden a huge pink baby mouth with two teeth is coming at my eye, and then I have slobber on my eyelid and a big runner of drool hanging off my nose. There’s a lot of drool these days.
I love to hold you, but I can never do it for very long because YOU ARE HEAVY. Heavy. So heavy. It hurts my back! WE sit sometimes, and read, and you are starting to grab and eat the pages. It’s grab and eat, grab and eat, all day long, and thus do we enter the stage of making sure everything within your reach is non-toxic, non-pointy, and non-precious to me (aka chewable.) Playing games, reading, learning to sit, practicing standing – it’s all fun, all wonderful, and I have the most awesome biceps at this point. Really. The other day I had to fetch the dog, who had run off, and I hoisted him up and then had a conversation with somebody for like 15 minutes, and didn’t even break a sweat. This is because, I believe at this point the dog weighs less than you. Or roughly the same.
We love love love you, all day and all night. Sleeping on your side, covering your face with your blue blanket, chewing on my hair, poop explosions all up your back – it’s all part of the game, and a game I really love playing.
