A quick pause to say two things. After being up literally ALL NIGHT with a cranky, gassy baby, and then laughing out loud (while still wide awake, of course) at the sound of the alarm at 6:45 am, I was in no mood for work, Friday or not. And then I got here and my assistant walked in with a tiny birthday cake covered in candles, which was actually a tower of rice cakes iced in chocolate frosting – a nod to my recent dieting (153 pounds and still falling yo!) Reaching over periodically through the morning to swipe my plastic knife through the frosting and then slurp it off has perked my day up considerably. AND JOHN McCAIN PICKED A FEMALE RUNNING MATE. So either way the voting goes, we get a traditionally underrepresented demographic in the White House. I am so happy I could scream. Oh, I’m still not voting for him. But it’s a historic day when putting a woman on your ticket is the smart political move. For that, at least, we can thank Hillary. (And also possibly for losing us the election – but a vanquished Democratic party would mean a victory for women everywhere, so I . . . just . . . can’t . . . hate her anymore!)
