Lots of things are Smokin’ Hot today!
- My oven. I baked a quiche and two dozen cookies this morning, to take to some sick work folks. Lest you think I am too angelic, full disclosure: I had to get rid of a dozen eggs that were past their date (!) by a week (!) and we are leaving town tomorrow and I wasn’t gonna throw them away. Cooking ’em kills the germs, right?
- My self. I had my postpartum follow up appointment today, and all is perfectly well except for one small thing. In order to speed the healing, my midwife applied silver nitrate, a burning agent. Smoke was a risin’, and I was a hollerin’, but that should be the end of it. Let’s hope. I’m all done with being an invalid.
- North Carolina. There’s a huge fire burning, uh, somewhere? In the state? And anyway, it’s a big enough and bad enough fire that I drove to work through smoke today. Crrrrazy.
- My husband.
- Our washer and dryer. From washing all of our clothes (and burp rags and receiving blankets and sleep sacks and swaddles and . . . you get it) in preparation for a Big! Fun! Trip! We head west tomorrow, to the land of buffalo and mountain goats and, well, spring weddings. The rehearsal dinner is Saturday, the wedding is Monday, and who wants to place bets on how many minutes I last in my shiny wedding outfit before I have spitup stains on it? Anyone guessing I’ll make it more than five?
Posting will be light, or nonexistent, while we’re gone, but we’ll be back on June 22nd, so I’ll catch you all then!
I\’m hoping you\’ve landed by now…if not I\’m sending \’be an angel boy!\’ vibes to the babe, so that he\’s nothing but a pleasure to the travelers around you. This from the chick who just flew back with two quiet parrots and one little bird that wouldn\’t stop squeaking on flight #1…
Anyways – enjoy yourselves!
