Oh, the hunger today. The hunger. It is the hunger that ate Manhattan. It is the hunger that would not be satiated. The hunger from beyond. That would not be denied. Etc. etc.
The baby is pummeling me at the moment. I really wish I could see what he was doing in there. All the "You’re 28 Weeks Pregnant!" websites say that babies do cute things in the womb at this stage, like opening and closing their eyes, sucking their thumbs, grabbing their feet. These seem like very tame and gentle activities when what it actually feels like is that Jack is a drummer for a heavy metal band and he just did a five minute solo, threw his sticks in the air, and then smashed the lead singer’s guitar. I think the rest of the band might be in there, too. Could I be having sextuplets? Maybe we have a freak baby with ten limbs.
Don’t mistake me – I’m not complaining. Even though he likes to beat me up after my 2am pee break, making it impossible for me to go back to sleep, still this is about the only thing about pregnancy that I have really enjoyed. The regular beatings. Still, he’s only three pounds at this point. Check back later when he’s 6 or 7, I may change my mind.
One thing I don’t enjoy? The heartburn. It is the heartburn that ate Manhattan. It is the heartburn that would not be satiated. The heartburn from beyond. That would not be denied. Etc. etc.
And now that I’ve thrilled you all with my pregnancy stories, I’m going home for the day. Tomorrow – we’ll continue the scintillating family history.
and doesn\’t everything just taste SO GOOD? like, "oh…my…gosh…this is *the* absolute BEST bagel i have EVER had in my WHOLE life." i knew i loved food before i got pg and didnt\’ think it was possible for me to enjoy it more. boy, howdy, was i ever wrong. i do miss that about being pg. the way flavors just exploded in my mouth. ah.
And oh how that freaks me out. I\’m glad that you are enjoying the pummeling and knowing that the little man is just fine. But ewwwww. That pummeling is one of the things that freaks me out most about the whole pregnancy thing. I mean, once it starts to get big enough to punch you, it just becomes ALIEN to me. But that is just me.
I\’m so glad that you are enjoying this pregnancy so much — especially now that the never-ending nausea has subsided — and I hope the heartburn leaves you soon. That cannot be fun!
Amanda 🙂
and the great part is that you are that hungry cause food taste so awesome…even McD\’s fries taste good…and THAT is normally very gross…
*~* :o) always remember to be happy… :o) because you never know who is falling in love with your smile… :o) *~*
Super jane – I spend my entire hour commute home in the car thinking about what I\’m going to make for dinner, and drooling on my shirt. Food has never occupied this much space in my heart before.
Amanda – it freaked me out at first but you get used to it after a while. With Jack, it is truly constant, there is no rest for this little guy, so it quickly became a part of daily life. At first, I was like – dude, there is an independent being conducting business inside me. Now I\’m like – kid, seriously, it\’s 2 in the morning, go to freaking sleep.
Skrumshz – unfortunately, I love all food. Even McDonald\’s fries. The heavier and greasier, the better. Mmmmmm.
It\’s always a bad sign when you start fantasizing about McDonald\’s before 9:30A. Thanks, everyone! … When do they start serving lunch??
The only time I ever felt a baby kick, my work-friend Leslie came to my desk and grabbed my hand without asking first and put my hand on her belly. I\’m still a bit traumatized. I simply cannot fathom what it would feel like from the inside … G, you\’re pretty awesome.
