Relay for Life UPDATE

Well, everyone – we beat our goal. Our $1500 goal is going to have to be upped to $2500 – because we’re already past $2000, and we’ve still got a month to go. This week, a local car wash is sponsoring us by donating $2 per wash to our team – every wash for the whole week. I’m feeling famous, because I went on the local radio to record a spot for this carwash fundraiser. I got free advertising in the local paper, and the Professor and I plastered the town with flyers. Everyone cross your fingers that we do well with this, because it could add several more hundred dollars to our cause!

We’ve had a great deal of online donations. My county is probably well on its way to being number one in the country again, because I know we’re not the only team doing well. Other fundraisers by other teams have included tractor pulls, drag races, antique car shows (yes, I work in the deep dark hee haw country), and someone is even doing an American Idol competition next weekend – $5 to enter, $3 to watch. The creativity and unflagging passion of the folks involved in this program is astonishing.

It’s been a great bonding event for all of us at work.  Thanks to those of you who donated – you’re wonderful!
