This long, glorious weekend at home will give me time to write about our trip West. Since I took no notes and it’s been a couple of weeks since the trip ALREADY, it will probably be a short post as I’ve forgotten much of it. Sigh.
Another thing we are doing this weekend, and have been doing for the last several weeks, is debating about whether or not to get a dog. We may even go and visit a shelter, just to see what we can see. There are many things to consider – as evidenced by my many lilypads for the year, we are big road-trippers. Dogs take some of the flexibility out of leaving town. However, as the Professor will do some occasional traveling for school – not long, just a day here or there – it would make us both feel safer for me to have a guard dog at home. Plus, and this is a major motivating factor, we think a dog would keep Bella up during the day so she’d BLOODY SLEEP AT NIGHT FOR GOD’S SAKE, AAUUUUGGGHHHH.
What do you think? Should we, or shouldn’t we?
being that i am a new dog owner (going on day 6 right now), i\’d have to say that puppies aren\’t as much work as i thought. yes, we are still potty training and yes, it cost a pretty penny to get him up-to-date on shots and such, but it\’s very nice to have him around.as for the travel question, that\’s a bit tougher. thankfully, the places where we travel mostly (ie. to our parents\’ homes), we can bring the dog. for other trips where he may not be welcome, we have wonderful neighbors who have offered to care for him. and even if you are undecided, it\’s still fun to hit the shelters. we enjoyed our dog shopping days!
