See my wonder woman blogpost for laughs. See this one for bullet point-style updates on the past 3 weekends:
- June 9 my cousin got married in Pennsylvania. See the pix above. She was lovely. She was also WEARING MY #2 CHOICE OF DRESS. I seriously spent an hour in the shop (a year ago now) trying on one, then the other, then the first, then number two, on an on ad infinitum until my sister was ready to strangle me. I chose my #1. She chose my #2!! Only women who have labored over their dress choice will understand – I’m talking to you, Wicked M! You feel me, right? Anyway, my sister and I exchanged excited wide eyed glances when she appeared at the end of the aisle, and then I whispered the crazy coincidence excitedly to my husband. “This is Not About You. Calm Down,” he said firmly. Harumph. Men don’t get these things.
- PS – It was the first wedding we attended since our own. It was quite hard not to make it about me. But I think I triumphed.
- June 10 – drove 8 hours. Made up ridiculous songs – 90 more miles to go on the road, 90 more miles to go, you drive one down, the wheels go around, 89.95 more miles to go on the road . . . My sister and I got quite silly. My husband put on his man earmuffs and read maps.

- June 16 was two events – first was the work party, which you can see a few pictures of. A raging success, the kids had a great time, but the little demons were quick to turn ruthless when I climbed into the dunking booth.
- June 16 evening was another wedding. Alas, we have no pictures to share. This wedding was pretty fabulous. It was at a goat farm. We sat on white folding chairs facing a tree. An old man in a wicked psychedelic long sleeved t shirt officiated. There was a bluegrass band playing up front. The bride and groom, dressed in a nice flowered purple dress and a button down, khakis and Chacos respectively, walked in together. After a pretty hilarious and touching ceremony (it ended with, “OK man, you should kiss her now.”), we all carried our chairs over to the tent. Then we lined up for the receiving line, which the B&G thoughtfully had routed past the beer and wine stand, so we all only had to wait in line once to handle both tasks. The bride promptly changed into jeans, whipped out her fiddle, and started playing with the bluegrass band. The groom put on a sombrero and didn’t take it off all night. Animals roamed freely – chickens scratched in the dirt beside our table. A cat sat at the table next to us and patiently waited to be served his share of salmon. A goat even walked through the tent at one point. The food was excellent – a Portobello with a risotto crust for me, salmon for the Professor, and all the goat cheese we could eat. We camped out that night in a little tent city by the goat barn, and had the best fresh farm breakfast the next day that I have ever tasted. It was a peaceful place. A wonderful event.
- June 18-22 <work>
- This past weekend was spent cleaning. Our little house has been neglected of late. The Professor did the “lawn,” I did the garden. Then into the house for bathrooms, kitchen, laundry, dusting, etc. We squeezed in some fun, too, though – Saturday night we went to my sister’s for dinner (fab Mexican pizzas made by her boyfriend Shelby and a great pasta salad by her), and also on a short hike where I got a wicked chigger bite on my ankle (now I can’t bend it, so swollen!) Sunday evening the Professor and I went to WalMart. Sometimes for fun he gives me the $6 challenge – go to Wal Mart and find the silliest movie you can for under $6. We got Blazing Saddles, and watched it that evening, before heading into town and indulging in one beer each at our local pub. It was a nice night for a beer out front.
- This is Monday. It’s been a typical Monday so far, but not so crazy that I don’t have time to update my TWO blogs! Nice life!
Okay, so I totally get you on the whole dress thing! Plus, the first wedding you attend after your own is a tough one. It\’s a little weird. I can\’t imagine having seen that bride wearing my 2nd choice dress. I would have probably dissolved into fits of laughter or wept.
The "barn" wedding sounds so much fun! What I love about that is that the bride and groom did it completely their way. That just warms my heart and it proves that people can have fun at weddings that aren\’t traditional.
Amanda 🙂
p.s. Your WW post was ridiculous. I mean, I was laughing so hard that I almost snorted. Hysterical!
