Sonnet

I wrote this today for a sonnet competition.  It was fun.
In dull and muffled light the quiet two
Digest the morning cereal and news
He, cradling a cup of morning brew
She, in his lap and hungry, gently mews
Her paw outstretched, her tail a lazy curl
With absent mind her reach he tucks away
Beneath his flannel arm.  “Good girl, good girl.”
I look on from the hall – another day.
This morning and tomorrow and forever
These two, these quiet two, I much regret
The balance of the day starts in my favor
The rest of it is set against this debt.
Then know I know that all my worth is there
A Him and Her, together on the chair.

Can I be your biggest fan for a minute? Start the clock…the He/She/Me entry was fantastic! Cracked me up, so well done, and god bless the girl who knowingly jumps into life with a womanizer, she must be exhausted from the energy put forth proclaiming her turf. It would be easier to print up a card with the facts for moments like those. I know little (read: nothing) about poetry, but I like the sonnet. I subscribe to Writer\’s Mag..they always have competitions like that, I\’ve yet to enter one (read: chicken), but your sonnet would do well I think. As a non-expert.

    Okay, scratch that last part.
