A couple of glasses of wine have done a bit of work to erase this crappy day. It was frenetic, frantic, frenzied, and other words starting with “fr. ” I sported a brand new cold. And an unfortunate choice of work ensemble made up of wrinkled shirt and too large pants, when a “big wig” from New York was here with his expensive suit and dismissive glance. Of all the mornings to run out of time to iron. And a coworker made me look a fool in the meeting with him, blaming her mistake on me, leaving me sputtering and speechless. Corporate bullmalarky politics was the order of the day, and I was not in the mood. Though when am I?
So here I am, at home alone this evening, enjoying an episode of Firefly and a glass of chardonnay. And a huge vat of mashed potatoes – my ultimate comfort food. Sometimes I think that every day between now and the wedding, I should eat mashed potatoes. It would greatly improve my spirit and state of mind, if not my waistline.
Invitations are out at last. They look great! They were designed and printed by a friend, and I love what he did. They have a little hole punched in the side, and we struggled to figure out what to put in the hole. We finally tied them with raffia. I hope it looks good.
On a side note, I am about to come up on a year “anniversary” for this blog. Quick year. Wonder if I should do something special? Buy my blog flowers? Take it out for a nice meal?
I’m excited about another wedding I have coming up (see Sinful Angel in the side bar). I can’t wait to be in her shoes – little more than a week away from the end of the stress. And the beginning of the marriage. It will be a great October. If I survive September. . .

You\’ll survive and I\’m completely jealous that you are having a fall wedding…due to the football schedule, we had to have this crazy ass winter wedding otherwise, i would be two months away, instead of five :(….
I hate corporate politics and am looking forward to having control of my own business and not being responsible for anyone else\’s. YAY. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
I hope tomorrow is better than today was. Have a good week and congrats on getting those invites out. PICS??? I\’d love to see them. 🙂 I\’m doing mine in two weeks, for a December 27th ship date…it will take forever and it\’s the only free weekend, but I\’m happy to get it DONE.
Nice Girl
If office politics don\’t make the day interesting, what will? I am dealing with some of my own and they\’ve kept me entertained…for now. I hate to hear that someone gutless threw you under the bus, but I can\’t say I\’m surprised. In my short career, I\’ve seen it happen many times. Glad to hear you\’ve whiled your cares away with wine, mashed potatoes, and a good show.
I cannot wait to see the invitations! I am sure they are gorgeous. I am intrigued by them being designed and not being "from a book somewhere" like mine. 🙂
I am super excited to see you in such a short time! You are going to have a great time! You are sitting with HC people and you guys are going to laugh your butts off. Also, part of our meal has mashed potatoes — apparently they are the best my mother, father, and Michael have ever tasted. Now I know one more person will enjoy them!
You are getting so close…I hope the stress isn\’t taking the fun out of things. It did for me a little bit last week and I hate that. I hope it isn\’t the same for you.
Amanda 🙂

I used to work for a guy who would blame everything on me, too. I quit and he was fired a few months later. I guess they realized I was doing his job and mine, too and when I left he was SOL! That\’s one reason I\’m glad I\’m going into teaching; there aren\’t the same office politics and I\’m the ruler of my classroom. 🙂
Good luck with all of your last minute wedding planning. I feel your stress. We still have a list a mile long and there are some important things that haven\’t been taken care of, but I\’ve been surviving with a big bottle of Pepto Bismol!
