Bridalville

Let me tell you about my weekend.

Friday was uneventful.  So we’ll skip it.

Saturday, the cat woke me up in time to catch my plane.  For once I was pleased to be woken up by the meow alarm – I had set my clock radio an hour late.   Don’t want to be late for my flight.

I get on the plane and after an uneventful flight land at my connecting airport.  All is going great, I head to my gate – and find out the second plane is delayed.  I will now be arriving 20 minutes before the wedding starts.  I say as much to the desk clerk, who is about as interested in my plight as I am in watching infomercials.  She blinks at me an then picks up the phone.  It takes me a minute to realize she is not calling anyone on my behalf, just trying to get me to go away.  I guess I don’t really know what I expected her to do.

So I head to the ladies and change into my wedding attire, floof the hair, reapply deodorant, put on mascara, trying desperately to balance everything on my knee so it doesn’t touch the floor.  I get all set and head back out to the gate, where I found out the flight has been pushed back in the right direction – now we’ll be landing 45 minutes before the wedding.  Oh well, at least now I have plenty of time to get a cab.

Habib is my cab driver.  He doesn’t have any air conditioning, and when he simultaneously rolls down my window and asks me how long I’ll be in town, I realize it’s going to be a long drive.  A gallon of sweat, thirty two bucks and about 50 come-ons later, we pull up to the church.  I enter through the wrong door and end up schlepping my backpack down the aisle from the front of the church.

The wedding is beautiful, and also fun.  I have never seen a bride and groom so absorbed in one another, yet so gracious to their guests.  I thoroughly enjoy myself, dancing, drinking, eating, catching up with the Vegas girls and some friends from college that I haven’t seen in years.  We have an excellent time.  I even go out on the town with the others, sneak into a club, and end up dancing the two-step with the most dapper older gentleman I’ve seen in a while.  He even wore spats on his shoes.

Aaaahh, then it’s to bed in my king bed all alone.  That luxurious sentence deserves its own paragraph.

Sunday I drive home with my future husband and future in-laws, who pick me up on their way back from a week trip to Wisconsin.  It was a long drive, but fine, and when we return home everyone oohs and aahs over my bridal pictures, which have just been posted online.

Sometimes I feel surrounded by weddings, my own and others’.  And sometimes I don’t mind.

Oooh!  Tax free weekend! For us, it is just for back to school stuff…blah.  However, we do get to buy clothes and shoes under $100 tax free!  No tax free appliances here either, but I might be able to swing a new pair of shoes or something.  🙂

Your pictures are gorgeous!  I even wrote down the numbers of the ones I love, but I haven\’t had a chance to send them yet.  Sorry!  I loved the hippie-esque vibe of your photos — outdoors, barefoot, and natural.  LOVED them!  Your hair-by-sister and makeup-by-a-MAC-lady were fabulous!  Plus, you look so teeny tiny!!!

Hey, I say that you should get to do whatever you want at your wedding!  You\’re only doing it once and if you want to get married barefoot in a garden, go for it!!!  Some people might have everything about our wedding and I\’ve decided that I don\’t care.  As my parents keep saying, it is our wedding and we can do whatever we want.  BTW, Rinny told me about your whole burned out church picture taking place  — that sounds gorgeous and I am dying to see those pictures when they come back after the wedding!

Yay for you receiving your invite!  It makes me so happy to hear that people are getting them!  We\’ve already had two RSVPs and so we have four official guests! 🙂

    Have a fantastic weekend!

I want to see them!!  I bet they are beautiful.  Amanda has been GUSHING – I mean, GUSHING about them…and supremely jealous – she is a total freak!! 🙂 Ha!!

Sometimes, I am so over weddings, I want to pull all my hair out but in certain moments, when time is standing still and you know that you are marrying the man you love, it is the BEST…:)

YAY for bridal portraits…it inspired me to do my own but haven\’t decided for sure…Hope you post a few for us to gander at if the FI doesn\’t lurk. 🙂

Glad you had a fun weekend.
